Artist spotlight today features one of my favourite musican: Xennon
and his new single The Gift
from the upcoming studio album. The keywords for the new release will be: alien invasion, ancient powers and post apocalyptic settings.
This album is a depart of Xennon
’s earlier albums. He credits himself as a vocal synthwave artists but this will be the first instrumental one.
We get a very energizing cinematic track, with some clever filters, sidechaining and sweet synth solos. It is a powerful piece backed with some encouraging voiceovers, fitting well into the composition. This could easily be a real soundtrack of an existing movie.
The song artwork is also fantastic, conveying the listener to a post-apocalyptic fantasy era. To me these song covers are important. It gives an idea what to expect from the song just like those old retro computer games where the cover was an indication what atmosphere the game is trying to deliver. In case of songs it is easy to live up to it. Most of those games in the 80s couldn’t do that.
I am eagerly awaiting the new album. Xennon
’s other album Dark of a Distant World
was also very special to me, this was the first relese I heard from him, it is part of my synthwave
journey and hope with this song it will be added to yours too.
The single is available on Bandcamp, Spotify. Highly recommended!
