Artist Spotlight: Tom Franks - OutRun

blog-image

Today artist spotlight features an aspiring artist: Tom Franks and his aptly named single OutRun from his album Neon Nights.

Tom starts with some simmering pads and some heavily reverbed synths with some piano chords. The action really starts after the plucky sequences, bass and reverbed lead gets is into the main theme. Nice drums and evolving sounds follow up with the already familiar reverbed synth lead. A quiet bridge follows with sea sounds in the background with the plucky bass is joining again to give way to the obligatory but subtle Testarossa engine sound. The second verse is similar to the first but all instruments at once. Here we meet all the tricks we got so far: the evolving sounds, heavily reverbed pads and lea, plucky bass and of course the piano all the way.

The outro is actually creative: it uses filter for fadeout and of course a real volume fadeout at the end.

All in all it’s a very pleasant composition. Uses carefully chosen elements and it successfully delivers the OutRun feeling in Tom’s interpretation.

It’s available on Soundcloud . Hopefully the artist will embrace other platforms as well, he definitely deserves it.

Highly recommended!
