Todays artist spotlight features Morphoice
with his track Radio Static
with vocals sung by Patrick Russell
.
This track caught my eye while responding to the artist himself on Twitter. After listening to it I was pleasantly surprised, like a lot.
Let’s dive in.
The intro features some lush DX7 patches (or so I think) and already strong and clear vocals from Patrick! Very nice ambient pads and reverbs. The drum kit also complements the 80s feeling properly. Could be Simmons but for one thing, they sound pretty good!
The first verse showcases Patrick’s nice falsetto, nicely mixed to the theme, in multiple tones where applicable. The overal atmosphere is spot on, even getting to bridge which features a genuine guitar solo! The subtle bass and plucky backgrounds fills out the spectrum and does not get in the way.
Let’s be frank, the song is
driven by the well sung tenor and the artist knew this. Didn’t just smash instruments and vocals together.
With some clever arrangement and mixing the whole track sounds as a whole. This is a precise, very well executed song.
It’s is available virtually everywhere:
Bandcamp - Spotify - Apple Music - Amazon Music - YouTube - Soundcloud
Highly recommended!
