Artist spotlight today features the album Solenoid
by Celina
. The album title already suggests that it’s not filled with tame synthwave
ballads but rather industrial oriented stuff. The sounding is on the more strict, darker side but in a well made package.
Indeed, the album makes an appearance with a thud
. The tracks feature massive beats with the appropriate gated reverbs and even if there is a smooth pad in the background it is just to compliment the journey which is full of massive hits and energy.
The track Cybertime
really sets the mood with its voiceovers and powerful beats. In general no one is going to fall asleep while listening to this one. That’s true for the rest of the album though, It’s for your workout and not for your meditation.
Although there are softer sounding tracks on the album but they only start soft: they quickly turn into a tour de force just to make sure you pay attention. The pace is not particularly fast but it makes sure it gets the point through, and then some.
What sets this album apart that it has a dab of darkwave
and cyberpunk
but it’s more on the industrial
side which is reflected in the track names. Its powerful delivery and arrangement certainly deserves attention.
The album is available on Spotify and also on Youtube too.
Highly recommended!
