I never had a BMX but my friend had one! Everyone wanted to borrow it for a round or two. We didn’t care about the lack of mudguards, slow ratio, hard plastic saddle. It was all the rage, it was the 80s.
In this artist spotlight we have BMX Escape
with a true 80s synthwave track: Along The Bay
. It is based on the perfect recipe for a retro synth single: crackling vinyl noise in the background with muffled sequenced synth goodness slowly fading into a full and wide tasty sounds with a generous dose of reverb.
This is a true cruising track bringing back the mood of the era just like if it was yesterday. It’s not some quiet reminiscing but simply a statement that the 80s never went away, it is still here, you just have to listen.
BMX Escape
aka Benoit Gaultier
blends the retro elements masterfully giving us the full, whole mix. Nothing is missing for the perfect mood. According to his Bandcamp
page, his project name is based on the vision of teenagers escaping the danger with their bikes. Couldn’t be more appropriate these days even in metaphorically.
In these hard days we really need to escape and Along the Bay
makes it possible for 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
Check out his homepage too for added immersion and as always, consider supporting your fellow artists. Highly recommended!
