Today in artist spotlight we have a new track from Androids Do Dream
. This one is on the slower, calmer side but the arrangement won’t disappoint.
The premise of Neon Wasteland
is a dystopian future which gets introduced with some smart arpeggios and sweeping basslines. We get the additional layers of piece by piece with clever placements. With the drumkit entering we also get the illusion of the changed rhytm which is very subtle but it’s there.
Almost unnoticed, we’re getting to the second verse with strong staccatos. It’s not as chill anymore as it may have seemed at the beginning, this is cyberpunk territory right here! However the bridge smoothens it up a bit. The lead is sneaked in again - oh sure enough we did get a sneaky lead in the first verse already but we’re getting a brand new one now.
The constant evolving nature of the track brings back some arps but just to make for space some entirely new: few lush evolving pads.
The approaching fadeout also utilizes the pads to finish off things.
Altough the track seems to be one of the longer arrangements, it’s not. It presents its story as a whole, without repeating itself which makes especially a nice listening experience.
Final thoughts: it's epic!
